  Just like others have said, this is just more CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL!

  When I look at the picture of the group sitting in the room with the piano, I can't help but notice that they look like pre-programmed ROBOTS - nobody's legs are crossed, everyone is sitting just so, most of their hands are neatly held in their laps - I mean, these people are RIGID just like the rules they are trying to uphold

  These pictures absolutely scream CULT and I bet the few thinking drones at the Hall will see this brochure for what it is and get the hell out of Dodge! Here's hoping. Glad I no longer have to sit through these mind numbing parts, where everything you are to think, say, do, eat, wear, discuss, sing, etc. is programmed down to the minutest detail. Watchtower SLAVEHOLDERY really sums it up, as WT Wizard calls it!

  Do you think the guys in the Governing Body belive in the Governing Body?

  i presume they do.

  they are probably so intoxicated by their own power that they belive in the never ending rubbish.. or am i wrong?

  is there other reasons to stay on the top of the hill?.

  I was having this discussion with a family member earlier this week. We came to the conclusion that the ones at the very top just HAVE TO KNOW it's all a crock; they're the ones who have access to and keep hidden all the secret files and dusty 'classified' reports, and they must have just about seen it all and then some.

  But just below them, you've probably got a mixture - some who are on to the shpiel but can't or won't come clean, some who are 'stuck' in physically but out mentally, and some who are super believers.

  Anyhow, I have to say Eh, that looking back on 40+ years in the 'group', you couldn' have said it better!

  I have a friend (and relative) who's a JW. He enjoys attention, but doesn't like to whore for it. He's a sucker for a compliment, but he doesn't show off. Outside of some woodworking projects, he doesn't have a whole lot going for himself that would gather in the accolades. I think that if I understood him better when we were growing up, I would have been more quick to compliment him.
  
  Anyway, when he comments at a meeting "in his own words" (basically running some previously written text through a mental thesaurus or regurgitating the wording from the last time the point was discussed) he gets all the attention he needs. Every other week he gets up in front of the crowd and performs a simple five minute speech or runs through a fill-in-the-blank announcement form and receives heaps of kudos on a job well done.
  
  He was thinking about Pioneering and when he would mention it he got even more attention. He went for it. Although it's just riding around in a car for 70 hours a month, he gets incredible commendation for it.
  
  He's got one of those low-brow jobs that JW's usually have. It's not the kind of job that gets you much credit. No one's singing his praises at work.
  
  So how is he ever expected to leave the group? He'll never receive the level acclaim he's currently getting for doing so little - no matter what he does in life. One hundred people telling him every week through words, and looks, and applause that he's just the greatest thing ever and all he has to do is lower his head and say, "Jehovah, Heavenly father, we come to you now to give thanks for the..."
  
  

  It is so sad that this about describes the life of the average JW...but they are oblivious to the dronelike quality of their lives until the lightbulb in their own head finally switches on! What a rude awakening.

  And the guys at the top should have to answer for what they've done to generations of untapped talent and 'gifts in men' (and women, too). Just my 2c.

  I found your post very intriguing...I would love nothing more than to believe that the information you present is correct and that Luke 14:26 (among a myriad of other scriptures) has somehow been 'tampered with'.

  But I must ask, on what do you base your assertions? I would love to hear any evidence you can produce, if there is in fact any such. I also must ask what a Nephilim rendering is, and who exactly the 'Nephilim' are supposed to be. Thanks for any answers...hopefully you will have access to a computer in the near future.

  Welcome, Mrs. Fiorini!

  I really enjoyed your post - although I had heard about the psalms originally being of Egyptian origin, now I have some books that I can delve into to get more information in that regard. Very interesting, indeed! That's what intrigues me about the Catholics, they aren't afraid to give credit where credit is due, and don't shy away from exposing pagan influences, wherever they may be found. They have freely admitted that both circumcision and baptism were practiced by pagans before being adopted by 'God's people' but because they were adopted, therefore their pagan ancestry is of no consequence...I find that approach refreshing and liberating. At least they admit to the pagan influences, whereas the WT does not. In that regard, I find the Catholics a little more forthcoming...

  Oh, and Mary: your information on the connection between the birthstones for each month of the year and the Bible is PRICELESS!! I will make good use of that - thanks for that enlightenment!

  What you say really makes sense. I was just thinking about this yesterday. Every one of us has to think independently, it's how we function daily. But in the realm of religion, the Society doesn't want us to think at all, hence their constant bashing of 'independent thinking'. Of course, I only realized this once I actually started thinking for myself, after I quit the weekly indoctrination sessions...you are so right about the 'tape recorder' analogy. I was one of those that played the tape, without ever giving what I was saying a second thought. Great post!

  Thanks for keeping us apprised of developments. I can not imagine the fortitude required of Lawrence Hughes to represent himself and face off against all these lawyers representing the various entities; the mental picture I get is David against Goliath...will anyone be videoing the proceedings? This would surely make for an unbelievable story; in fact the CBC could do a good documentary just from these proceedings, methinks.

  Is there no lawyer in the whole country of Canada who could assist Lawrence in this in some small way? Then again, maybe his willingness to act in his own behalf will carry some weight. There are so many issues to be explored and some legal guidance would surely be welcome. Since I am not in the know, perhaps he already has someone assisting behind the scenes.

  actually i wanted to work, instead of go to the dc.. .

  i happen to run into a "brother" who happened to work with me on quickbuilds not too long ago.. he was df'd for a bit and reinstated this year.. my mom had talked to him on friday about my current situation (not attending meetings).. he said he wanted to talk to me to see how things were going (red flags in my head).. .

  Here's a gem from page 217:

  "Am I aware that refusing all medical procedures involving the use of my own blood means that I would not accept a blood test, hemodialysis, or a heart-lung machine?(bold mine)"

  So here they are saying that if you have accepted (I would say allowed, accept must be the legal term) a blood test, you have submitted to a medical procedure involving the USE OF YOUR OWN BLOOD!! Wow, I never knew this was against policy, but apparently, if blood is not poured out on the ground, you are not viewing it as 'sacred'? Ok, this is ABSOLUTELY INSANE...

  Just about EVERY WITNESS I have ever known has had a blood test, so if you've done that, you're already in violation of God's law; heck, by that reasoning, why not accept fractions? Why not have a transfusion? If you've ever had a blood test, the DOOR IS OPEN...

  The amount of doublespeak in this publication has reached critical mass...I didn't think it could get more convoluted....now, nobody can explain anything, but by God, you better be able to explain it all to your doctor.....in a 5-minute consultation!
